Toyota Tales Part 2:
“Taylor the 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback” or “Taylor the Toyota” for short, had a tantrum unlike any other. Not just unlike any other for them, unlike any other Toyota in my driving history (refer to Toyota Tales Part 1 for more details).
Carrie the Car Diaries Circa 2014 (Toyota Yaris Sedan) were slightly finicky when it came to her automatic locks and hubcaps yet overall she carried me through, cruising consistently.
Ellie the Electric-ISH Brightest Blue (iykyk Ellie Goulding) Toyota Prius C was equally finicky with her automatic locks and key fob yet would’ve endured if not for her ending on Highway 17 on New Years Eve, Eve of 2020.
“Taylor the 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback” has had turbulent timing from the beginning. Bought out of wedlock, it was not a purchase I had prepared for. Sometimes I speculate whether it has Car COVID because it seems to car-antine anytime it needs routine maitenance.
My friend Rianna and I have speculated whether it is a decoy Toyota because it mimics Mazda’s features a little too much, it’s almost a mirror image of her Mazda. Despite its many minor malfunctions, I thought maybe it was driving to the beat of its own horn, which mostly matched me. I rebranded Taylor the Toyota to be unlike any other, rather than a lemon.
Yet as I left my last day of work at @actiondayschools after 6pm, knowing “Taylor The Toyota” was driving on a prayer on my way to work. I was denied the request to leave work at an earlier time to do a hail mary of car maintenance and therefore after work… my car flashed nearly every maintenance light and did its newfound Toyota Trudge, I found myself marveling as it nearly stopped completely right outside its Stevens Creek Toyota service dealership home (closed at that time), with just enough momentum to make it to take a parking lot pit stop…
