The Age of Artificial Happiness

Though the art of happiness has been a long-term goal for many of us, it seems that the more people I’ve talked to over the years, the more we have begun to settle for the art of surviving. In the Age of Artificial Intelligence, I cannot fathom a world where the concept of learning and thinking becomes obsolete. While Artificial Intelligence has the opportunity to be utilized as a tool that creates the space for us to live more than work rather than live to work, without mindful boundaries, it could lead us back to an age of “survival of the fittest” with the people currently in power deciding who are “the fittest” as of now, the people in power seem to classify “the fittest” as those who are committed to conforming to their rhetoric. Historically, we have seen revolutions fought with war, which is to be expected when you continuously corner people into limited options for survival, and yet the cycle repeats because violence begets violence. In this Age of Artificial Intelligence, we also get to fight the rebellion with our minds because where we seek our connection, our information, our dopamine, and our happiness overall has the opportunity to either repeat the artificial cycle or invite us to build an authentic cycle of intelligence and happiness which acknowledges that both intelligence and happiness contain many facets that Artificial Intelligence may struggle to sustain long-term.
